Registration Information for New Mexico
In New Mexico, you can register to vote or update your voter registration online, by mail, or in person at your local elections office. Polling locations are open from 7am to 7pm on Election Day. Any registered voter may vote by mail with a requested absentee ballot. Early voters may cast an absentee ballot or vote in person at the county clerk's office during regular busniess hours 28 days before Election Day. You must be a U.S. citizen, residing in New Mexico, and are 18 years or older by next election. You cannot vote in New Mexico if you are a convicted felon or on parole for a felony, or if you have been legally declared "mentally incompetent" by a court. To register to vote, you must provide your New Mexico Driver's Liscence or State ID (only online applicants), and your SSID. If you reside at a non-traditional address, you must also provide a map or drawing of your location. Valid ID is required to vote. Valid ID includes photo ID; tribal ID; student ID; government issued document, utility bill, bank statement, government check, or paycheck featuring your name and address. If you are a first time voter, or if your voter registration is incomplete, you may need to bring Valid ID to vote in person—a verbal or written statement featuring your name, address, and date of birth; a current and valid photo ID; a valid tribal ID (original or copy); a utility bill, bank statement, or government check; OR a government issued document featuring your name and address will count as Valid ID.
