Registration Information for New York
In New York, you can register to vote by online, mail, or in person at your elections office. Individual must be a U.S citizen/resident of New York and at least 18 years old by Election Day. You need the following requirements to register: Learner’s Permit, last four digits of your SSN, and your New York Driver’s License Number. If you are voting for the first time then you can use any form of valid ID from this list: paycheck that shows your current name and address, utility bill, bank statement, valid New York driver's license, government check, a government-issued document that shows your current name and address.
What else you should know
In order to vote absentee in New York you must meet one of the following conditions:
• You are absent from your county or, if a resident of New York City, absent from the city
on Election Day
• You are unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability
